With this victory, the team also qualified for the CBSE National Chess Championship to be held in Jalandhar.
The Commonwealth Schools Chess Championship took place from October 4 to 12, 2026, at Cititel Mid Valley in Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian Chess Federation and the Kuala Lumpur Chess Association organised the event on behalf of the Commonwealth Chess Association and FIDE.
The championship brought together 293 young players from across Commonwealth countries. Competitions were held in different age groups, from Under-7 to Under-19.
Agastya’s two medals at the international championship, following his strong performance at the North Zone level, mark an important achievement in his young chess career.
