अब वही स्थिति एक बार फिर दोहराई जाती दिख रही है। स्वामी अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद सरस्वती खुद को ज्योतिष पीठ का शंकराचार्य बताते हैं, लेकिन इस दावे को लेकर संत समाज का एक वर्ग असहमति जता रहा है। इस पूरे विवाद का असर धार्मिक आयोजनों और सार्वजनिक मंचों पर भी देखने को मिल रहा है।
