Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government is set to revise land circle rates in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, to ensure fair market value for landowners.
The revision process, which began on January 1, 2024, has already been completed in 37 districts. The government now aims to accelerate the process in remaining districts, where rates have remained unchanged for years. This revision will primarily benefit farmers, ensuring fair compensation during land acquisitions for development projects.
As per Rule 4(1) of the Second Amendment Rules of the Uttar Pradesh Stamp (Property Valuation) Act, 2013, district magistrates (DMs) are authorized to set or revise minimum land rates per hectare or square metre annually in August. However, the rule also allows mid-year revisions if necessary. This provision has helped complete the process in several districts this year.
In a recent review meeting, UP Chief Secretary directed officials to expedite the revision process in districts where it has been pending for long. These include Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Etawah, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and Baghpat, among others. The process in these districts will begin soon.
Meanwhile, the revision work is ongoing in Shamli, Saharanpur, Mirzapur, Aligarh, Banda, Hamirpur, Agra, Sultanpur, Amethi, and Gautam Buddha Nagar.
The revision of circle rates will help ensure transparent land valuation, boost development projects, and protect farmers’ interests by ensuring they get fair market value for their land.
