Lucknow: Over the last five years, Uttar Pradesh’s textile sector has attracted investments worth ₹2,492 crore, generating nearly 20,000 jobs and significantly contributing to the state’s economic growth. A total of 123 companies have begun commercial production, employing around 19,752 people, highlighting the sector’s importance in shaping UP’s economic landscape. Region-wise, Paschimanchal (Western UP) leads with ₹1,084 crore investment from 58 companies, creating 12,677 jobs, followed by Madhyanchal with ₹812.91 crore investment and 1,912 jobs.

Poorvanchal saw ₹543 crore investment, employing 4,563 people, while Bundelkhand received ₹52 crore investment, creating 600 jobs. Major contributors include Kanpur Plastipack Limited, GESL Spinners, and Interweave Polytex, among others, collectively driving growth in related industries like dyeing, printing, and packaging.

The Uttar Pradesh government’s proactive approach, under the UP Textile and Garmenting Policy 2022, offers incentives like land cost subsidies, stamp duty exemptions, and energy benefits, fostering a supportive environment for investors. With this comprehensive policy framework, Uttar Pradesh’s textile industry is set to grow further, reinforcing its status as a key hub for textile production in India.
