New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 150th Foundation Day celebrations of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Highlighting the significance of IMD’s journey, the Prime Minister stated that these 150 years reflect not only the department’s service to millions of Indians but also the advancement of modern science and technology in the country. He launched ‘Mission Mausam,’ aimed at making India a climate-smart nation, and released the IMD Vision-2047 document, which outlines a roadmap for weather resilience and climate change adaptation.

Shri Modi also unveiled a commemorative postage stamp and coin to honor IMD’s legacy. He emphasized the department’s role in improving disaster management, enhancing safety, and supporting key sectors like agriculture and the blue economy.

The Prime Minister lauded IMD’s integration of traditional meteorological knowledge with modern technology and encouraged continued research to meet future challenges.
