Bangalore: Ekathon 2025, a landmark healthtech hackathon jointly hosted by Eka Care and AWS at the AWS office in Bangalore on 5–6 June, brought together India’s brightest minds in digital health to co-create scalable, AI-powered solutions for real-world healthcare challenges. This two-day event saw participation from developers, clinicians, innovators, and policymakers, aiming to build the next generation of digital health tools. From voice-first patient assistants to AI-enabled claim processing and multilingual health data solutions, the event showcased cutting-edge innovations poised to transform India’s healthcare system.

Delivering the keynote, Shri Kiran Gopal Vaska, Joint Secretary, National Health Authority, highlighted the critical role of public-private partnerships in building an interoperable, data-driven healthcare ecosystem. He praised the role of private innovators and platforms like Eka Care in pushing the boundaries of digital health transformation. Industry leaders such as Vikalp Sahni, Founder & CEO of Eka Care, and Samarth Masson from AWS India, underscored the importance of cloud technologies and open developer ecosystems in enabling scalable healthcare solutions.

Out of over 100 applications, 15 teams were selected for the final round. After 36 hours of intensive development, the winning team, HealthHaven, presented a revolutionary solution using graph databases for real-time, structured healthcare data storage. The first runner-up, EaseMyMed, introduced a GenAI-powered claims automation tool that could reduce medical claim denials by up to 80%. HealthSpeak AI, the second runner-up, developed a multilingual voice-assistant that helps clinicians record structured patient histories using local languages, improving access and reducing consultation times by up to 40%.

What set Ekathon apart was its collaborative spirit—developers working shoulder-to-shoulder with doctors, mentors, and ecosystem enablers using real APIs from the Eka Developer Suite. The judging panel, which included experts from the National Health Authority, Swasth Alliance, and AWS, not only evaluated the entries but also offered feedback for future growth and partnerships.

With support from ecosystem players like PeerCapital and HighTable, Ekathon 2025 has already ignited ongoing discussions around pilot projects and investment opportunities. More than just a hackathon, Ekathon emerged as a movement to reimagine digital healthcare for a billion-plus Indians.
