According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indo-Pacific area as a whole benefits from the peace, security, and stability of the South China Sea.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday, during the East Asia summit in Vietnam, that the Global South is being badly impacted by the ongoing conflicts in various parts of the world. In addition, he advocated for an Indo-Pacific area governed by rules and discussed maintaining freedom of navigation.

The nations of the Global South are being most negatively impacted by the conflicts that are occurring throughout the world. Everyone wants peace and stability to be restored as soon as possible, whether it is in West Asia or Eurasia. I have said time and again that we are not living in a time of war because I am from the land of the Buddha. The battlefield cannot provide answers to issues. Respecting international law, territorial integrity, and sovereignty is essential. Prioritizing communication and diplomacy while maintaining a humanitarian stance will be necessary. As part of its obligation under Vishwa Bandhu, India will keep making all-out contributions in this regard, according to PM Modi.

“We believe maritime activities should be conducted under UNCLOS, it is necessary to ensure freedom of navigation, and air space,” he continued.

He asserted that the Indo-Pacific area as a whole benefits from the peace, security, and stability of the South China Sea.

“Free, open, inclusive, prosperous and rule-based Indo-Pacific is important for the progress of the entire region,” he stated.

PM Modi described terrorism as a major threat to international security and peace.

“Global peace and security are also seriously threatened by terrorism. The forces that believe in humanity will need to unite in order to face it. Additionally, he stated that there will need to be an increase in mutual cooperation in the fields of cyber, maritime, and space.

Respecting sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law are imperative; prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy will be necessary.

On the fringes of the East Asia Summit in Vientiane on Friday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
