
Lucknow: Lucknow is gearing up to host India’s first AI-ready edge data center, established by Sify Infinit Spaces Limited, a leading data center provider. The state-of-the-art facility, located in the HCL IT City campus on Sultanpur Road, is set to begin operations in phases, with the first phase expected to be operational by June 2025.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on February 23, 2025, and was graced by the Honourable Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Manoj Kumar Singh, IAS. The data center’s strategic location near major MNCs in the NCR and Lucknow region aims to reduce latency and enhance operational efficiency for enterprises. Utilizing edge caching technology, it promises faster computing response times.
Shri Manoj Kumar Singh highlighted the initiative as a key step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning India as a global AI hub. He also emphasized Uttar Pradesh’s strategic mission to build an AI ecosystem, leveraging talent from prestigious institutions like IIT Kanpur, IIM Lucknow, IIT BHU, and IIIT Allahabad. He added that Sify’s AI hub Edge Data Centre marks a significant milestone in making Lucknow an AI-ready city.
Echoing this vision, Shri Raju Vegesna, Chairman of Sify Technologies, expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to Uttar Pradesh’s ambition of becoming North India’s premier data center hub. He highlighted that this facility aligns with Sify’s investment goals and supports the state’s growth in the digital economy.
